Everyone keeps suggesting there is a paradox concerning the 5D future humans and their ability to save humanity in the past. It's really not a paradox at all. Everyone assumes humanity survived to ascend to the 5th dimension but how could humanity exist in the future if not for the actions of Cooper... who was guided by future humans (begin endless loop. Amelia Brand carried on with the rest of her mission (thanks to Cooper. I postulate that Brand used the human seeds as intended and set up a colony. A colony that would thrive and eventually evolve beyond human. Thus Earth is of little importance, and may have indeed died. These colonists, and the generations that followed, would have been told the story of a great man (Cooper) who saved them from extinction. With the ability to manipulate space-time, they would pay homage to their hero God by helping him in the past so he may fulfill the mission most important to him, to once again see his daughter. Plan B worked beautifully. But the 5D humans, having the power to bend space-time, decided there's no reason why Plan A had to fail. Or. Earth was never doomed to die. In this scenario Cooper and co. still venture through time and space. except that it didn't matter in the long run. Earth would survive through sheer luck and poor predictions of the magnitude of the blight. But only with enough nourishment to keep a small pocket of humanity from becoming extinct. It is the closest to extinction we have ever been and even countless generations later the impact of this event would no doubt place deep, emotional scars on the descendants. Our technology (for a time) would equate to that of the stone age. It would send human evolution back 500-1000 year. Untold years later the survivors evolve to the 5th dimension and attempt to circumvent the extinction level event and it's impact on the future of humanity. So, humanity survived. but it could have survived better! Or. The entire thing is a simulation. A simulated universe, with simulated constants and variables. It could be that the 5D humans are programmers. They live in the bulk universe, while we live in their elaborate simulated universe. The events depicted on film is the result of a block of code containing an (unintentional) infinite loop. Brace yourself, this might get a little geeky: Imagine they instantiate a human object named Cooper in a function/method used to populate the simulated Earth. During one iteration while the programmers were testing different techniques to correct the code, accidentally sent the Cooper object outside the scope of the local function/method and into the main body of the program represented by the tesseract. He now sees the true scope of the program and has access to areas normally restricted, but only in a limited sense because he isn't supposed to be there. Think of the singularity in a black hole as a kind of return statement that sends object values to the beginning of it's main story (main body of code. The Cooper object has it's values returned the main body (beginning of film) but the actual object still remains trapped in the block, only it's value was passed. What would that look like if we represented it in 4 dimensions? Probably something like a ghost, because it wouldn't really be Cooper, it would just be his return value. Leonard Susskind hypothesized that objects passing through a black hole, in a sense, split at the firewall. The outside observer thinks the object was simply erased from the universe because no information can be exchanged due to the speed of light, but the information pertaining to that object still exists. This duality is manifesting in 2 distinctly different Coopers, one that is physical, and one that only exists as information. Cooper is doomed to remain locked in the erroneous code block until the higher level programmer solves his own algorithmic problem (represented by the gravity equation. You have to imagine this loop running through many iterations before the code would be configured in such a way as to send the Cooper object outside the localities of the method in which it's created. The 5D beings manipulate the code, testing all possibilities, just like Murph's name. Heck, there could even be 6D beings programming the 5D beings, programming the 4D beings (us) programming the 3D beings (working 3D models with applied textures) programming the 2D beings (cartoons, drawings, animation. As you can see, at each level the working objects believe themselves to be real with no way to access knowledge of the the greater workings a level above. But just as we can manipulate 2D or 3D objects, a 5th dimensional being would have the ability to manipulate all dimensions beneath it. We enjoy manipulating lower dimensions for no other reason than because we can. Q. So why did they help us? A. That might have just been a side effect of higher level code manipulation. Honestly, Ebola symptoms pale in comparison to what my reaction to this random series of talking pictures was. I even went so far as to buy all of the remaining tickets at AMC Silverdale for the rest of the evening on my smart phone so that no one else in the 360 area code had to be subjected to the inhumanity I was experiencing. Even if I only saved a few dozen souls, it was worth the 1854. I had to be escorted out of the building by security when I stood up during the black hole planet tidal wave scene and screamed profanities while simultaneously mooning the projector operator. I'm usually shy and reserved, but the lack of sound scientific evidence to support such a preposterous planet triggered me.
I had the rare privilege of sitting next to an Auschwhitz Holocaust survivor and they informed me that the Third Reich had built a day- care compared to this virtual hell Christopher Nolan dreamed up. If I had the only time machine in existence, I would burn it to a white ash so that no time traveler can ever stumble upon this black plague. I listen to death metal, and I've never heard lyrics that even come close to describing the brutality and utter assault on the senses that this cacophony of misery presents.
All that being said, the voice acting for TARS was on point.

There's ample material here for a series, so much scope for development, worlds to inhabit, dimensions to explore. I feel like a real opportunity to craft an historic space epic has been missed. I don't want to watch it again for a while. There's too much that bothers me. For example: how's Earth doing? Because that's the entire premise of the film, right? A dying planet. How's Tom doing? Dead or alive, Coop seems unconcerned. Have I understood this correctly - a blackhole is infact a totally comprehensible construct that grants wishes? And you can communicate with an AI and cause a watch to tick in morse code in another part of the galaxy from within one? And the moment you're done fiddling with watches you're deposited right next to a search crew just off Saturn? The narrative reminds me of dreams I've had that make perfect sense when within them but on waking up you find a hundred reasons why the events and their internal logic are objectively absurd. I want to like this movie, there are many things I like about it, but the lingering sense is of an ambition that got ahead of itself. One last thing: if super-evolved, multi-dimensional beings were guiding Coop to eventually help his daughter solve the equation that would allow humans to leave Earth enmasse why couldn't they do that more directly and much sooner, thus avoiding a ton of death and suffering? I really admire Nolan's films but pull on just one thread and the whole thing starts to unravel. P.S Why is Coop stealing a spacecraft to go after Brand? That Saturn colony must have been around for decades. If they haven't already sent a craft out to Brand then surely they would intend to. Y'know, with a crew, properly equipped.

In the beginning I thought this movie absolutely sucked Then at the end it completely changed my mind best movie ever. There are so many sins here that have easy explanations. This is one of the worst ones they've done. If he had, he would not have relayed the required data from the black hole. And that means humanity gets run over by the blight.
